Mary Coburn (she/her)
As a neurodivergent provider I know first hand the rewards and challenges that come with raising neurodivergent children. Through my own lived experiences I am able to better understand and empathize with a child's struggles and strengths. I believe that by creating safe spaces for open communication and collaboration, and with ongoing advocacy, we can help a child navigate their differences with confidence and with a strong sense of self.

My work is informed by a rich understanding of evidence-based practice and brain-behavior relationships, while also prioritizing personal lived experiences. I value collaborative, affirming care. I seek to create a space where youth and families can ask vulnerable and challenging questions and find support. My evaluations provide insight into strengths and vulnerabilities, empowering youth and families with knowledge and tools.

Occupational Therapist
I have worked in both medical and school settings. Becoming a parent, embracing my own family's neurodiversity, and connecting with my clients has guided my practice as an occupational therapist. I address all areas of participation difficulty - developmental skills, activities of daily living, self-regulation, independent living skills and community participation. I specialize in pediatrics and sensory integration.

I prioritize connection over compliance. Gestalt language processors are of particular interest to me, as is working with autistic children and their families to grow self-generated language. I meet my clients and families where they are and use a strengths-based approaches to speech-language development. I enjoy working closely with families to address their goals while honoring their child's uniqueness.

Navigating neurodivergence in a family can be tricky! In some cases, mental health is impacted, and things become even more complex. Many of the traditional approaches to parenting can send everyone into a tailspin, with an increase in stress, frustration, and overwhelm. With rich personal experience parenting in a neurodivergent household, in addition to a long career of compassionately supporting families in my psychotherapy practice, I pride myself on being a person who understands the intricacies of neurodiversity and actively fosters inclusivity and empowerment. Let’s do this!

Behavior is communication and all children deserve to be heard. It's an honor to be on this journey with so many!
